Information on Travel Immunisations and Health Advice for your
trip abroad.
This is an additional service which is not covered by the NHS.
We are very keen to avoid your holiday or business trip overseas
being spoilt by illness and have therefore organised a special
Travel Clinic to help ensure a healthy visit abroad. This clinic
is run by our nursing team on Tuesday and Friday afternoons only
and is intended to give advice on how to minimise your risk
whilst abroad and on which immunisations are recommended or
essential for your particular journey. After this consultation
you will be advised when to book for any immunisations that are felt
necessary. (Immunisations are not always given at this
appointment.) If more than one member of the family is
travelling it may not be necessary for everyone to come for this
session. If there are no appointments in our travel clinic
and you are travelling soon, you will have to book a private travel
clinic, telephone
numbers below. We ask that you come to see us well before
your journey as a full course of 'jabs' may take up to 3 months to
complete. If in any doubt please ask your Doctor as even for
Spain or Portugal you may now need protection. The nurse
time for giving the injection is free and so are most vaccinations.
There are charges however for some vaccinations. These are
listed below:

We are unable to provide Yellow Fever, Rabies and Japanese
Encephalitis vaccinations. These are available at the clinics
listed below. Malaria tablets may not be prescribed by the NHS.
Some can be bought over the counter, others need a private
prescription, these can be purchased from our dispensary. To help
you by giving the best advice we would be grateful if you could
complete the questionnaire which you can pick up from the surgery
and return it to the practice when an appointment will be made for
the travel clinic. This will allow us time to check your
immunisation status. Please complete one for each person
travelling as these forms are the consent for the vaccinations.
